The Place of Dead Roads: A Novel - William S. Burroughs
The Red Night-trilogy continues. First we had pirates, now we have a wild west-scenario. The themes are still the same, Time-travelling, firearm-fapping, underground midget warriors and leeches, caterpillars and ancient diceases. Eagerly waiting to get my hands on the finale, The Western Lands.

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath - Joel McIver
Another one from Joel 'fanboy' McIver. Really, the guy doesn't seem to know what the word 'objective' means. Same with the Metallica-book, and I'm pretty sure that the quite recent Slayer-opus is just crying after Reign In Blood every second pages.
He keeps coming back and crying after the good old times. It is true that the early days were better but the constant moaning about that really isn't very relevant. Speaking about the good old days of Sabbath, the classic-era is really very tiny part of the book, as the majority focused mostly on the band's overwhelming line-up problems and the constant law-issues. And Ozzy, and the Osbournes. The fucking Osbournes. Too bad.

Cities of the Red Night: A Novel - William S. Burroughs
The old bastard got even more perv when he got older and older. Really, this one is fucked up, even in the Burroughs-standards. It starts as a kind of noir-Chandler-story, but of course with timetravelling homosexual pirate-conquistadores who can hang themselves over and over again to gain sexual pleasure. Or something like that. It has figures from the the past, present and the future. Not to forget the slimy and gay-oriented skin-diseases, flying midget-assasins, thousands of ejaculations and hairy assholes being penetrated with almost everything you can touch, transsexual lizard-people, a sperm-eating fish.... It's really really wasted effort trying to explain this one. But it surely puts together everything that's great in Burroughs. The insanely fast-running mindflowings and metaphors. But then again, the insanely accurate(ish) historical facts and legends being chewed into a some sort of psychosexual fantasy. Mindblowing.

Innocent When You Dream: The Tom Waits Reader... - Frank Black (Foreword),Mac Montandon
A nice little collection of articles and interviews, not being the basic, chronologic biographicy-material. The book repeats itself a bit and doesn't get very deeply into it's central character, Tom being quite protective towards his personal life that's just easy to understand. Ok.
