Factotum - Charles Bukowski
December
Read in English
Bukowski's alter ego drinks, fucks and wipes his ass. It was a good idea to have a long break between two Bukowskis, this way it felt as fresh as a Bukowski book can feel.

To be honest, when I bought this book I didn't know who Seiji Ozawa was and I thought this would be just a book of Haruki Murakami talking with someone about music in general. As it turned out Mr. Ozawa is a world-famous conductor and the book is(except for a couple small passages) about classical music. The two discuss some famous pieces and artists and the creation of a musical performance. Before reading this I didn't know much about that stuff so in that sense this was a very informative and educational read. Even though this book made me buy a ticket to a concert after about 50 pages, it still has its slow and uninteresting parts that I just had to force myself through.

Photo Nomad - David Douglas Duncan
January
A photo-biography of DDD. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who's looking for a Duncan biography because in that aspect this isn't very informative. But for someone who just wants to get to know his work, maybe. The little chapters of text left me somewhat confused. Was Duncan trying to be "poetic" in a beat literature way or was he just too old to keep his thoughts together when writing this? Anyway, a solid introduction to the man's work as a photojournalist and a fast read.
