Kill List (2011)
It's kind of like Rosemary's Baby (1968) meets Get Carter (1971) meets The Wicker Man (1973) filmed on the set of The Blair Witch Project (1999). On paper that sounds excellent, and certainly, I'm not saying it's a bad movie. By all means seek this one out. The ending really snuck up on me, I didn't know how to feel after it was over.
The first quarter of the movie was really tedious and seemed almost to belong to an entirely different film, at first I was asking myself and the person next to me, "why are we watching this?" However, nothing throughout the film is at all what it appears to be.
Cool fick, felt a little too smug for my taste. A couple of the BIGGEST issues I have with this one was the volume. Every single character micro-whispers, I had to keep turning the volume up to my speakers, to a max that I didn't think they could go to. Then--just like that! The actions scenes turn up the volume about a hundred decimals, WHAAAAA!!! Everybody's shooting and the music's booming, and the freaky cult people are screeching like pterodactyls. It freaking made my ears bleed! ...And then, even when you did manage to make out any of the whispering going on, the Liverpool accents were so thick, I felt like I should have sprung for some subtitles to go with the movie. I didn't understand a single fucking word from the opening argument scenes between the husband and wife at the dinner party.
