Best Films of 1941

For some reason this was selected for the National Film Registry, and in its third year, ahead of films like The Birth of a Nation, The Gold Rush and Psycho!
I haven't read why it's such an important film and the one person I've talked to, who has seen it, says they don't understand the value either.

It's not necessarily bad, but there is just nothing special about it, especially when compared to other films of the day.

Classic horror story with iconic scenes. It has a certain old-Hollywood mystique when viewing now.

The question is never answered but it still holds some beautiful scenes and a strong effort from John Ford

While not amazing the film making it has been a big influence on films and writers since.
