70's exported music from Albion Island

Music list created by Mass. Patriot Avatar

Sort by: Showing 10 items
Rating: List Type:
1970

Bandleader, bassist and singer, Jeff Christie from Leeds wrote this catchy chorus for The Tremeloes...they recorded it but changed their mind...ERROR...#1 in Albion, #23 in ex Colony
1971

Sally Carr from Muirhead, Scotland, a leggy blonde with "suave" little voice, but the "far far away!" verse will be printed several times, the band sold over 5 millions just in a couple of year...ok that chorus still kick some ass today.

Born Paul Francis Gadd in Oxfordshire, Gary Glitter hitted the UK charts seriously in the 70's as he hitted prison walls in the 90's, anyway GG was a good writer and musician, he still had TOP10 songs in the 80's.

1973

OK...I'm not a big fan of Eno, Manzanera either, anyway in Stranded album Eno departure is risible, the smartass pretty boy Ferry Bryan born in Washington, County of Durham...(no ex-colonials bands in this list), now CBE, is still able to write songs without synth/noise played with gloves...and YOU now what I mean

Brixtonian David Jones put a giant stone on music with Diamond Dogs, released May 24th 1974, like the Roseta Stone.

Saluting team Chinn/Chapman then start to write serious rock milestones, londoneers Sweet put the 1975 on top shelf, they open with Fox on the Run...then Action, and the band goes boom even in the ex-colony...still popular there, England prefers Chumbawamba...

Mark Feld aka Marc Bolan, Stoke New. London...I want to be like him ! I didn't know him, when a female Lyceum classmate showed a pic of Marc from Ciao2001, italian most famous and respected music mag, then she said : Bolan looks like you...look ! Then she showed a pic of mine from a recent gig at school...uhm...the girl came with camera at my gig, and she took photos of me...interesting !!!
OK...cut short about my HS years...focus on music : the very first time I've heard it I hate this slow rockabilly sponge...then I was riding my KTM in the snow...and I started singing I like to boogie...with a smile...

Formed as The Guilfod (Surrey) Stranglers in 1974, they didn't get a contract until 77...when they released 2 album in 5 months, the seminal Rattus Norvegicus (with the single Peaches) and the rock staples No More Heroes, I stil don't know of their music is Punk...surely they had punk attitude more than any other band, Clash in primis.

Ian Robins Dury was born in Harrow, Middlesex, he contracted Polio when 7 years old. I was not a fan of the Blockheads band, I can understand the strong message inside Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, but I didn't like...anyway I was a musician since I was 6 so when Ian Dury came in my town I was there...and I like the gig so much, Hit Me expecially.

Born as Harry Rodger Webb in UN.PRO of India (it happens when half world was an Albion colony) Mr Richard wanted sing as rocknroller...and he did it, the Shadows was a major act in the island before Beatles and Stones formed and seated on the throne...anyway...you know the story of that guy better than me, he didn't reach the #1 since 1968, then this song, and dudes...I love it, every part of it, even lyrics.

My music lists seems get better than actresses lists...youngsters aren't interested in "Cinema di Genere italiano" ?
Yeah, look at Tarantino and his new flick, stuff just good for old farts like me...So what we wanna do ? A public talk about differences between Margot Robbie and the real Sharon Tate ? Sharon was big breasted than Margot...obvious...wow machist and inopportune joke M.P...talk about music...it's better...you know...OK, let's talk about 70's music decade only from British Islands or Albion as ancient Rome named the islands, or as Mussolini used to called it (with a suffix, perfidious. Just 10 songs with a span of 10 years...it's like my fav album title...intensities in 10 cities...ok...stop jokes.
Why I choose that bunch of songs, because they are unique and performed well even in the continent or colonies, or ex-colonies.
Why there's no Video Killed The Radio Star in 1979 ? Because it was produced and released by one of the authors, Bruce Wolley, for his band in 1978 fall, with Thomas Dolby on synths...The Camera Club. Interesting name...when Downes and Horn quitted Buggles and joined Yes in 1980 the first single from Drama was "Into lens" that reads I'm a Camera...Camera...Camera...life through lens ! Horn is weirdo...maybe, like any other genious...anyway the single did not performed well...Does It Really Happen? instead went #1 in Italy...and that's weird !

Listen without prejudice

(I'm not here to stay, I've just realized I'm a Basketball/NFL type of junkee...I mean I've spent too much time watching american sports...isn't good for my health, so I've take a little vacation on Listal)
