The movie was based on the century old novel but this adaptation set in modern-day New York City. It was perfectly transformed from 100 years old culture and lifestyle to present era.

It tells the story of a little girl called Maisie who notices his parents' irresponsible behavior towards her which leads to make her own decision for the future of her own. The kid was so adorable and... read more

I wasn't really sure what to expect from this movie but since the ratings were pretty good, I was quite eager to check it out. Well, it turned out to be some kind of really f*ckep-up and mean-spirited version of 'Kramer vs Kramer' told from the point of view of the child. Basically, it was so sad and depressing, the whole thing was almost unbearable to watch. I mean, first, you had the mother who ... read more

A sweet yet heartbreaking story that is sadly too common. While the story is predictable the performances are realistic, especially Onata Aprile as Maisie. And, possibly for the first time ever Julianne Moore did a good job, mainly because she was perfectly cast as a very unlikable mother.

If parents shout and yell at each other, toxic impressions go into the memory bank. If parents constantly profess to love their children but hardly ever spend time with them, memories of disappointment and sadness are stored forever. These deeply troubling aspects of parenting lie at the foundation of What Maisie Knew, a mesmerizing screen adaptati ... (more)

Basically, it was so sad and depressing, the whole thing was almost unbearable to watch. I mean, first, you had the mother who was a total disaster. I don't want to blame Julianne Moore as she gave as usual a solid performance but this character was awful with not one single redeeming feature. Concerning the father, he was slightly better but only slightly better as he turned out to be a major dick as well. Eventually, both of them just kept dumping their daughter whenever they felt like it and, to make things worse, this” read more
