If you don't want spoilers, you've probably read too much already.It's a very well-thought out movie, about arguably a quietly painful experience.It shows you things that you can learn about lots of topics, from what it's like to hobnob with rich people, what it's like to have friends who are Jews, what the Jazz age was like, why violence and organized crime is part of society, what are the limits... read more

Thoughts Before Watching This:
1. This will be my first encounter with a Woody Allen film.
2. Not sure why I just never got around to his other stuff yet.
3. It has a decent enough cast.
4. Honestly I don't know much about it, but the plot seems interesting.
5. I swear Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart seem to do well together given they do so many films together.read more

“I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but since I have been following Woody Allen’s career for more than 20 years, I was still quite eager to check it out. Well, eventually, even this movie wasn’t one of his worst, it wasn’t one of his best either. I mean, the whole thing was pretty neat to look at and it was probably one of his most gorgeous movies visually speaking (I’m not surprised that it turned out to be his most expensive movie so far). Unfortunately, even if the story was not completely boring, it was borderline weak and even lazy. For example, I thought there was some dramatic curve missing. Koska satun kuitenkin suuresti pitämään Woody Allen -elokuvista, katsoin tämän mielelläni, vaikka myönnettäköön, että juutalaisläppä alkaa olla paikoin jo vähän kulunutta. Vaikka Café Society onkin Woodyn tuotantoa tunteville hyvin yllätyksetön teos, eroaa se kuitenkin olennaisissa määrin jenkkileffojen valtavirrasta pysyäkseen ilahduttavana katselukokemuksena."
