" 9.16 Really, in the last dim stages of his career, Woody Allen tries to get the magic back in this tale of estranged love affairs in old Hollywood. And getting it back also meant rehashing old themes. In Cafe Society, Jesse Eisenberg is the nephew of movie mogul Steve Carrell who gives him a job in the studio only to find themselves clashing with personal interests. Its watchable as any Woody film, but tamer and missing the pop of a champagne bottle."
“Thoughts Before Watching This:
1. This will be my first encounter with a Woody Allen film.
2. Not sure why I just never got around to his other stuff yet.
3. It has a decent enough cast.
4. Honestly I don't know much about it, but the plot seems interesting.
5. I swear Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart seem to do well together given they do so many films together.
6. Anyways time to get this show on the road.
Thoughts While Watching This:
1. The way it starts does remind me of films in the 30s.
2. Steve Carell is definitely a much better choice for the role than Bruce Willis would have been.
3. Their family is actually pretty interesting.
4. Mmm Potato Pancakes!

But ultimately I think whether or not you enjoy the movie or merely respect it but still somehow just wish it to be over, is the relationship you have, the stance you take, towards that romantic melancholy at t” read more
"This isn't Woody Allen's best work, mostly due to a disjointed plot, but it is still witty, smart; typical Woody Allen. 7.5/10"
"When: July 31st First-Time Viewing: Yes. How: In theaters. What'd I Think?: Well written, if disjointed, this is standard, but unspectacular Woody Allen. My Rating: 8/10 Other Notes: This is the 2400th film I've seen."
