" Simon and Wei-Tung are a gay couple living together in Manhattan. To defer the suspicions of Wei-Tung's parents, Simon suggests a marriage of convenience between Wei-Tung and Wei-Wei, an immigrant in need of a green card. When Wei-Tung's parents come to America for the wedding, they insist upon an elaborate banquet, resulting in several complications. The worldwide gross of The Wedding Banquet was $23.6 million. The New York Times reported a budget of $750,000. Considering the $1 million "

"The Wedding Banquet is what you get when you essentially take the plot to The Birdcage and film it using the characters from Tokyo Story. Except the humor in this one, whether intentional or not, is slightly uncomfortable, because the drama seems much more authentic to life. The Wedding Banquet was one of the more original films I've ever sat through, it's charming, compassionate, and at times, can be downright cheeky. It's such a shame it's one of Ang Lee's more earlier efforts, that so unfair"

" Cast : Sihung Lung What was it about? To satisfy his nagging parents, a gay landlord and a female tenant agree to a marriage of convenience, but his parents arrive to visit and things get out of hand. My two cents: I remember very well when it came out though. Indeed, my sister was really enthusiast about this movie and she was the on who actually made me discover Ang Lee. Basically, way before ‘Brokeback Mountain’, Ang Lee directed this gem about gay love. Back then, obviously, nobody"

" Notes: To be honest, it has been a while since I have seen this movie and maybe I should re-watch it at some point. However, I remember it very well when it came out, my sister was really enthusiast about the damned thing and told me I should definitely check it out. "17.3.
