chilling film

The plot was awesome, the suspense was intense, the acting was flawless, but what sets this film apart from others is that this movie has, without a doubt, the BEST cinematography i've ever seen. If it doesnt win at least the Oscar for cinematography this year, they'd be robbed.

Nearly all the edge-of-seat suspensful scenes (and this movie has a lot of them) are shot in one conti... read more

This movie stunned me. It bombed at the box office, it got snubbed at the Oscars, and yet just sheer word-of-mouth has put this film in IMDB's Top250.

Without a doubt, this is easily my favorite film of 2006, heck, of the decade. Go see it people!

Alfonso Cuaron shows us in this film that he is the master of long takes, and few cuts. Brilliantly cinematographed and directed, with a most excellent cast, this is a wonderful film. The bonus feature is something I rarely watch, but everyone will be curious to watch the production of one particular scene involving Kee's character, played by new actress Claire-Hope Ashitey. This is definitely THE... read more

Movie Reviews (1151-1200) (50 movies items)

" Excellent premise about a world where births don't happen any longer created by crime writer, P.D. James. Superb acting, editing and direction. The atmosphere and the comments about illegal immigration is even more powerful and up to date now. One of the new millennium's most powerful science fiction movies that feels even nearer to science fact now only 10 years later."

"Jan 4th Thought it was a good Sci Fi flick but nothing that really blow me away. The cinematography and dystopia setting was good along with the action scenes and parallels to contemporary society as it relates to immigration. Overall rating 6.3. "

"September 23 Re-watch "Y'know that ringing in your ears? That 'eeeeeeeeee'? That's the sound of the ear cells dying, like their swan song. Once it's gone you'll never hear that frequency again. Enjoy it while it lasts." I already loved this movie when I last watched it, but on the second viewing I somehow love it more than I already did. I guess part of the reason was that there were a couple things I noticed that I didn't during the previous viewing. Besides what I didn't notice though I s"

The Top 40 Sci-Fi Movies of the 21st Century (40 movies items)

"Director Alfonso Cuaron's adaptation of PD James' novel is a chilling nightmare, set in a future where human infertility has rendered society increasingly unstable (morality matters less when extinction is in the offing). The film's rumpled, weary atmosphere, as embodied by conflicted hero Clive Owen – playing a cynical bureaucrat drafted into a potentially species-saving plot – and stubborn optimism (personified by Michael Caine's aging hippie weed-dealer) combine to create a movingly tang"

"2016/02/27 @home on Blueray from library via Mel.org with Kendra This is one that I had heard about ages ago and kept meaning to see, but only now got around to it. The movie did a great job of envisioning what a world without children would be like. Dark, but hopeful, and a good story."
