As a matter of fact, before watching this flick, I had never seen any of his movies! I know, shame on me... As you can imagine, I had some huge expectations before watching the damned thing and, to be honest, I... read more

"First viewing - Dec. 23rd As a comedy, this didn't work so well for me. I chuckled 2 or 3 times total, which either means it's not funny or the humor didn't work for me. Thus far I'd still call Chaplin the king of silent-era comedy. As a historical account, however, it works pretty well. The events recreated throughout are mostly believable thanks to the attention to detail & use of real trains. Despite being told from a pro-Confederate viewpoint, the story held my attention & the characters w"
