“I have to admit that I wasn’t expecting much from this flick but since I have a weak spot for Margot Robbie, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, eventually, I really struggled to care about the damned thing. Basically, the whole thing seemed to another unnecessary new version of a classic character and you might wonder why every decade we get a new version of Sherlock Holmes, Robin Hood, King Arthur and The Three Musketeers. I mean, I did like the fact that they didn’t go for an origin story but this approach was unfortunately undone by the fact that they still provided some flashback scenes explaining the background of Tarzan. It was too bad because we all know what happened to this iconic character and it felt like a missed opportunity to develop something new or not so” read more
" DVD- 1hr. 50min. First Viewing It's pretty well-made, sans the sub-par visual effects, but that's really the only positive note that I could give The Legend of Tarzan. The story is dull, with very little forward momentum, and predictable, and the cast is squandered on bland roles (Samuel L. Jackson is probably the highlight, but even he isn't able to cut loose). Movies about man-apes should not be this boring. Note: Jim Broadbent is in this movie for maybe ten seconds, and gets a "with" credit."
"I like the cast and this would have been an okay Tarzan film but this is a good example how bad CGI can take you out of a movie. Everything looked just so fake and badly rendered. Christoph Waltz had stolen Jet Li's choking beads and was evil. Samuel L. Jackson was himself which also didn't fit the film that well. "
