"Familiar territory. Anyone who was paying attention to the early 2000s' priest/altar boy molestation scandal would already know what happens in this film. The performances are all decent but the deliver is a bit hammy. Especially Ruffalo's outburst scene toward the end. Reminds one too much of the much better "All the President's Men" (1976)."
"Directed by Thomas McCarthy Starring John Slattery, Billy Crudup, Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Sharon McFarlane, Stanley Tucci, Liev Schreiber, Brian d'Arcy James, Neil Huff, Jamey Sheridan, Paul Gulifoyle, Gene Amoroso, Michael Countryman, and Len Cariou "
"A decisive investigate film about a burning subject. Just a little too long."
“To be honest, this movie was not really on my radar for a long time but since it won the Best Picture Academy Award, I was quite eager to check out the damned thing. Well, eventually, I thought it was a pretty good story, with some solid directing and a very strong cast (Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber, Stanley Tucci, Billy Crudup). The realistic approach worked fine as well and it was really neat that they didn’t add any sub-plots about the romantic or family lives of the involved reporters. And, yet, somehow, the whole thing didn’t really blow me away. I mean, I do have a weak spot for the genre and I really loved ‘All the President's Men’ which was obviously an inspiration for this movie but, in this case, even though it was an interesting story, i” read more

"Eric MacLeish (lawyer of the sexual abuse victims) and Jack Dunn (head of PR at Boston College High School) have claimed that their depictions are worse than they acted in real life. Jack Dunn claimed the film treated him as indifferent and uncaring, however Walter Robinson and Sacha Pfeiffer retorted the film was accurate with how they remembered their interview, but he said that he did care and tried his hardest to bring the issue to light. The studio issued a public statement apologizing to D"
" "How do you say no to god?" There's nothing flashy about this movie, nor over dramatic, and the closest thing to action is Mark Ruffalo's running. The story is great, and the pacing too, it hooked me from the begging and didn't let me go till the end credits. Everyone is great in this movie, and it's fun to see all those actors that were recently in super hero movies in something completely different... Great movie, but I don't have reason to watch this movie again, though."

"This true life movie follows The Boston Globe's "Spotlight" team, the oldest continuously operating newspaper investigative unit in the US, and its investigation into cases of widespread and systemic child sex abuse in the Boston area by numerous Roman Catholic priests and how the church covered it all up. This movie is amazing and captivating from the first frame. I was literally that hooked from the second the movie opened. I wanted to know more, see more, learn more. The cast was incredible, "
