Description:
Sergeant Pali Csillag is in the middle of a farewell kiss to Mencike, losing his purse in the act. Off he goes to another village, where he has Zsófi, who has been waiting for him for over six years. She is, however, now married to judge Török, who, it appears, is willing to let her return to Csillag. The lad and his troop arrive. The Hussars' pay was in the lost purse. The judge slyly offers Pali 500 forints if he guards the honesty of his house while he is away, but Pali, seeing his wife, wants none of his help.
