"2020 It's difficult to combine so many themes and metaphors into a single film and have it still be entertaining, profound and worthy of multiple viewings... but Kaufman is the master in such accomplishments and he has done it again. "
" Date: 11/2/2020 Viewed: Netflix Fist Viewing Note: I have looked forward to watching this movie for a while now because I'm a big fan of Charlie Kaufman's work. I do admit that I wanted to wait for the hype to die down because I notice people get so angry when other people don't care for this movie. Enough time has passed and I finally watched it on Netflix. To be honest, I'm not sure if I like this movie or not. The acting is great and the production values are solid. I love the cold snowy "
"I really enjoy Charlie Kaufman and have enjoyed joining him on this journey where he has consistently turned more and more inward with each successive film, be it a script or a directorial effort. Here that trend sure keeps going, occasionally dipping to slightly too self-indulgent territory (the Pauline Kael -inspired conversation and the dance scene in particular), but the vitriolic nature of his self-hatred and self-shame keeps this going admirably. But yeah it will be a struggle for most to get through it."
"First viewing - Sept. 28th I was pretty well hooked into what was going on here up until the main couple got back in their car and started driving toward home. Then the dialogue got extremely irritating to the point I checked out and let the rest of the film play out in the background. It came off as self-indulgent and pretentious and from what I saw there was never anything approaching a worthwhile payoff for sitting through it. I recalled JK Simmons's line from Burn After Reading..."Report ba"
"25.9. Kaufmanin uutukainen on ehtaa kaufmania. Ja minä niin pidän siitä. Elokuvalla on aivan oma painovoimansa, joka vetää Buckleyn esittämän naisen syvemmälle omiin syövereihinsä, joihin puolestaan hukkuu katsojakin."
"Points of anticipation: Charlie Fucking Kaufman writing and directing. Trailer: "
