Antlers (2021)
Points of anticipation: Yes, it's been delayed before, but that doesn't always mean it's not good. I want to see a horror movie directed by Scott Cooper and I really want to see that movie with Kerri Russell.

Trailer:

People who added this item 102 Average listal rating (63 ratings) 5.4 IMDB Rating 5.3
Points of anticipation: The original was an odd one that I found myself watching multiple times as a kid. Now that I have a kid the same age I was when the first one came out... I'm hoping there will be similar results with this one. That was wordy, yes. Zemeckis is great, but needs a hit, this could maybe be it.

Points of anticipation: Will Ferrell starring in a singing competition movie? I'm all in. Plus, it will be cool to see Rachel McAdams in a comedic/singing role.

Trailer:

Stehako's rating:
Points of anticipation: The first movie was fun and the title to for this sequel shows it still plans to be fun, and with Salma Hayek possibly in the lead.

Points of anticipation: Ridley Scott passion project with a stellar cast, including Jodie Comer in a role that will see if she can impress outside of "Killing Eve"

Preview Material:

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 233 Average listal rating (129 ratings) 6.3 IMDB Rating 6.6
Points of anticipation: The first two were mindless fun and this one shouldn't be any different. Smith and Lawrence have great chemistry, will they still have it?

Trailer:

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 5 Average listal rating (3 ratings) 7 IMDB Rating 7.4
Points of anticipation: Ronny Howard directing a documentary is usually a good thing. This looks to be an important one, hopefully it gains the attention it should. Hopefully it deserves the attention.

Trailer:

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 23 Average listal rating (11 ratings) 5.8 IMDB Rating 6.1
Points of anticipation: Much like Woody Allen, Soderbergh is famous for a hit and then a miss. Let's hope this is a hit. He certainly has the cast for one.

Preview Material:

Points of anticipation: Herzog documentary about about meteors and comets and their influence on ancient religions and other cultural and physical impacts they've had on Earth.
Why wouldn't I watch that?

Related Material:

Points of anticipation: Oliver Stone is in serious need of an awesome movie, like the ones he made in the 80s and 90s. The synopsis sounds like it could be one... get back there, Stone!

Points of anticipation: It's rare to see a superhero sequel this high on my lists; but the first one was solid and Gadot is endlessly likable. Plus, the mid-80s is so hot right now.

Trailer:

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 41 Average listal rating (27 ratings) 6.5 IMDB Rating 6.6

People who added this item 147 Average listal rating (102 ratings) 5.6 IMDB Rating 5.2
Points of anticipation: In 2001 I would have had a hardy laugh if one were to tell me there would be 9 of these movies. That laugh would have been even hardier if one were to tell me I wanted to see it. But alas, here we are with cinema's most indelible guilty pleasure.

Trailer:

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 69 Average listal rating (40 ratings) 6.2 IMDB Rating 6.7
Points of anticipation: This one has been on the docket for a while. I still don't much about it. Is it a movie, TV show? Limited series? I last heard it's a movie, hence why it's on the list. Ronny Howard's second spot on the list, with a solid cast and story is intriguing.

The Gentlemen (2019)
Points of anticipation: Will Guy Ritchie finally get back to what made him a respected director, not a big-budget director? I think so. I'm going to see it this weekend...

Stehako's rating:
Points of anticipation: Loved the original. I think Murphy & Co could do some great things with this sequel. Murphy hasn't had a solid comedic in yeeeaaars.

People who added this item 26 Average listal rating (18 ratings) 5.7 IMDB Rating 6.5
Points of anticipation: Taika Waititi is really killing it and his cast in this shows it. I always look forward to his creative blend of comedy styles.

People who added this item 66 Average listal rating (42 ratings) 6.4 IMDB Rating 6.9
Points of anticipation: Is that Tom Hanks again? Three Tom Hanks movies in one year? It might be too good to be true, perhaps one will get bumped to 2021. This looks like his most intriguing out of the three. Plus, "Game of Thrones'" Miguel Sapochnik will have an opportunity to prove himself outside of the show. I am thinking great results!

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 17 Average listal rating (11 ratings) 7.7 IMDB Rating 7.7

Trailer:

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 502 Average listal rating (361 ratings) 7.4 IMDB Rating 8
Points of anticipation: Denis Villeneuve is directing. To say he is on a hot streak would be putting it mildly. I don't really care about the Dune story itself, but I have high hopes he can make it beautiful and interesting and the epic it, maybe, deserves.

Trailer:

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 242 Average listal rating (187 ratings) 6.5 IMDB Rating 7.4
Points of anticipation: Pixar, yes, but the weaker looking of the releasing this year. The trailer doesn't actually make it look great, but I'm sure it will at least be fun and hopefully pull some on-brand heart strings.

Trailer:

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 108 Average listal rating (64 ratings) 7 IMDB Rating 7.1
Points of anticipation: Spielberg is directing, which seems strange, as it's a musical. I don't believe he has directed a musical. But hey, why shouldn't he experiment with new genres at his age?

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 182 Average listal rating (133 ratings) 7.1 IMDB Rating 7.4
Points of anticipation: Lonely Island is all over this so it's guaranteed to be funny. A solid comedy is a rare commodity these days. This needs to work. It might, after all they broke a Sundance purchase record of $15 million.. and 69 cents.

Trailer:

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 273 Average listal rating (194 ratings) 6.9 IMDB Rating 7.3

Trailer:

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 50 Average listal rating (36 ratings) 7 IMDB Rating 7.3
Points of anticipation: This looks like a pure fun, entertaining musical. Lin Manuel Miranda is heavily involved. It looks like it will hold up the quality from the Broadway production.

Trailer:

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 257 Average listal rating (171 ratings) 6.6 IMDB Rating 7
Points of anticipation: Edgar Wright directing. Cool title, cool poster. It can't possibly suck.

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 392 Average listal rating (311 ratings) 7.5 IMDB Rating 8
Points of anticipation: Pixar. Besides it seeming too similar to "Inside Out" this looks like a great crowd-pleaser from the studio. Plus, they're having it be more 'colorful', which is something the brand has notably lacked.

Trailer:

Stehako's rating:
Points of anticipation: Charlie Fucking Kaufman writing and directing.

Trailer:

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 151 Average listal rating (99 ratings) 6.8 IMDB Rating 6.8

Note for this update, though I won't be chaining any of the movies and their positions I will say the Covid-19 pandemic has certainly made this list quite a strange one, considering more than half of these will no longer be released in 2020. It looks like 2021's anticipated movies list will show some similarity...

Enjoy!
