“Saw 'Happy Death Day' as somebody who was fascinated by the concept, found the advertising interesting and good enough to warrant a view and who appreciates horror when done well. Seeing it just before Halloween as part of my Halloween celebrations, will admit to not being as bowled over by the film as would have liked but enjoying it a good deal.
As surprisingly interesting as the advertising was (and there has been some dreadful advertising this year, a notable recent example being the completely mis-marketed 'Geostorm'), it is also misleading. One would expect a truly frightening film judging from the trailers, but actually 'Happy Death Day' happened to be much more than what was indicated and wasn't what one would call terrifying or sleep-with-the-light-on-for-a-week. "Re-watch - Oct. 3rd Finally we get to something that's horror and not so kid-friendly. I figured my daughter would enjoy this film, and I was right. On top of that, Jessica Rothe, an actress I had never noticed before, was really charismatic. However, it was the first issue they made, to still make it a comedy, and maybe it would have worked better as a full-on horror flick since ‘Groundhog Day’ already brilliantly covered most of the humour regarding this story. Another issue was that the whole serial killer angle seriously limited ” read more

" There's nothing original or even remotely scary with Happy Death Day, yet that's not really much of an issue. This is because this is a film that's been made with such passion, energy and fun that it will entertained and amused for its entire running time. There are plenty of films that have implemented the Groundhog Day formula into their narrative. I've not seen it too often in horror films, which is understandable as you can't really cheapen the effect of death in a horror film. But Happy De"

"Actually a pretty enjoyable slasher flick. It's silly in the right ways as it makes fun of itself and the genre while bringing us some creative direction. Jessica Rothe has star quality, too. "
