The Same Director, Bigger Budget Sequels

These are the sequels that could be in contention, but we have to acknowledge that they are a product of the director having an obvious bigger budget and sort of having another go at it.

I was inspired to make this list after revisiting that scene in Scream 2 where the college film class is debating this exact topic. It also got me thinking about the differences between types of sequels and what constitutes a true sequel. Pretty much all the sequels in this list could be argued as surpassing the original, but wanted to make it more interesting by creating some hurdles to getting to that top spot.

I chose not to include anything from the MCU here as I'm just not that into those movies and feel they are all kind of like just trying to up the ante with every sequel rather than trying to make a better film overall. But by all means, let me know in the comments if there are any I should include.
