My favorite wrestling promotion of all time, because of the wrestling style that promotes (the Strong Style) and its view of wrestling as a sport. It has some bad years (like the reign of Lesnar as IWGP champion), but in general the wrestlers of the company delivered great matches and great moments. Currently it's undoubtely the best promotion in the world.
JaimePintoD's rating:
One of the most interesting minor promotions in Japan, because of their deathmatches, and more recently, their incredible "Strong BJ" division.
A classic deathmatch promotion, innovator in a misunderstood style of wrestling.
One of the best promotions in modern US indy scene. Great matches, but combined with a fun-comic ambient in their shows-
It was the best promotion in Japan some years ago, but their product decayed since 2007. Any way, had many interesting moments and matches, especially the Kobashi GHC reign and the rivalry between KENTA and Naomichi Marufuji.
Overlooked by many fans, brings many good matches in a traditional Puroresu style
I will always love the good years of ROH, when they combined the tradicional Japanese wrestling style with a Old-School American booking style. But since the Dragon Gate influence grew in the US indies that ROH deteriorated his essence. However, it's undeniable that the promotion opened the eyes of many fans about US wrestling.
Female wrestling at its finest, the representant of the golden era of Joshi Puroresu.
Sport entertainment WELL DONE! Chikara is not for seeing high quality matches, but for seeing a fun show that mixes Mexican wrestling with comedy elements. Their founder, Mike Quackenbush, brings good feuds and segments in his promotion that makes it refreshing among most companies in USA.
Excellent shoot wrestling, but a complicated history around this company. Anyway, its style made it a unique promotion among Japanese indies
Similar to Chikara in the sense of mixing wrestling with comedy, but in a more bizarre way.
Being honest, despise of their "Famous Five" excellent workers, I consider the 90's era of AJPW a bit overhyped. Moreover, I'm not so fan of the "King's Road" style (I prefer Strong Style). But I enjoy more the Mutoh era of this company, despise his flaws.
Sure the most known wrestling promotion, but not the best. It had some interesting eras and moments, but they focus too much on the "entertainment" aspect of wrestling in despise of the athleticism. Fortunately, it has been improving in the last 3 years, especially for the shining of former Indy stars,
Not so bad company as many people think, but some things, such the high botches ratio by event, as well as the way in which they present the shows, give some staleness in their product.
Solid company, but too many spotfests in their events tire me. Also, I dislike their "turbulent" stable system.
Since 2002 to 2006 TNA had a good product, with many interesting wrestlers, especially the X-Division. But since 2007 the booking decayed brutally and they became one of the worst promotions in the world. Still have great wrestlers, but their backstage decisions kill my interest in this company.
This is my personal list of wrestling promotions I've watched since I'm a wrestling fan. This list is not definitive, so it can change as the time passes. It's ordered in a DECREASING preference, first my favorites, and finishing with my least favorites.
