So, what do I consider as great for a song to be included in this list.
It's the following:
1) Uniqueness. As much as possibility allows, the song is such that it exists in a place all its own. Some songs doesn't sound like anything else in the annals of music history.
2) Extremity. It either makes me bang my head like a seizure or it makes me sing my heart out as if I'm at the center of the world in time, of course, often, in the loneliness of my car driving home.
3) Longevity. So, I haven't heard a song in a long while, maybe years, and it has the same impact as mentioned in number.2.
4) Impact. Not only is the song great during live shows, it changes the mood of everything. When its raining it pours, when the sun is shining, it illuminates with extra sheen. The crowd goes wild. People have heart attacks.
5) Theme. The subject matter. The song tells a good story. Not just about nonsense like partying, trying to get a girl in bed or going on a drive by. The lyrics mean something. Its memorable and something you can relate to...in your own obtuse way.
