Took dedication on the part of the kid as it was filmed over the real time frame of his growing up from a young kid to a teenager over real time. Very original concept and well done.

Struggle with the reality of this film on a daily basis and it hits home for me.
Kat Dennings does an amazing job of portraying the grim reality that the it never really ends but day 1 is the first day until the next day 1.

Escobar: Paradise Lost (2014)
This movie had a lot of promise with Del Toro playing the lead but it didn't quite live up to it's billing.
Joe's rating:

Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014)
Smite this movie down as one of the weakest interpretations of this chapter of the Bible even though Christian Bale does his best to not make it so.
Joe's rating:

By the Gun (2014)
Ben Barnes does a relatively good job in the lead role of conflicted gangster wanna be in a rather dreadful mobster movie. I don't understand what Leighton Meister is doing in this movie other than probably drawing a small paycheque.
It didn't even have any good "hits".

The Call of Cthulhu (2005)
Weird and dated silent movie but I was strangely attracted to it. Have been looking for this movie for a long time and finally got and I wasn't disappointed.
I'm sure it's not everyone's cup of tea but I enjoyed it.

Madrid, 1987 (2011)
If you are into international fare, you will probably find this one a great character film as it takes place between the two main characters in a bathroom with lots of dialogue about the human condition.
Joe's rating:

If you get a chance to watch this version first, you should do so as you"ll enjoy much better that way,
If it tickles your fancy you can watch the Vince Vaugh version afterwards and then compare for yourselves.
Let me know what you think?

Good entertaining action story. Great representation of it's genre.

What people will do for greed but then we know, don't we? Not to this extreme, we don't.

Maleficent (2014)
I didn't expect to like this Disney production as much as I did, especially with Jolie in it.
Just ignore her performance and you'll enjoy the movie for the story. She's rather dreadful in this movie. HaHa.

Joe's rating:

A gem from one of the masters of French cinema, Claude Chabrol. He describes the main character's slow descent into madness.
Joe's rating:

I had forgotten how good of a movie this was. It grabs you from the beginning and doesn't let you go until the very end.
Joe's rating:

Dolan's Cadillac (2010)
Movie based on a short story by Stephen King. In my opinion although this movie is watchable, Wes Bentley is miscast as a nice guy teacher, who's wife is killed by a gangster and ultimately takes revenge.
Slater does a fairly decent job as the gangster although they could have probably found someone more evil.
Storyline from King is excellent as usual, my being a biased fan.

Crazy Moon (1987)
A young Kiefer Sutherland who plays a slightly simple teenager who falls in love with a deaf girl and discovers that he was being held back by the weird family members that surrounded him.
Tender young love is explored in a very simple yet beautiful style of yesteryear in the setting that could be familiar to folks that have lived or visited Montreal including the abandoned Expo 1967 site.
It brought back some personal memories of visits when I visited the fair myself.

Men, Women & Children (2014)
Good reflection of the internet age and the online generation.

You've got to be in the right mood for this movie and maybe you've got to be Italian to understand some of the nuances of some of the jokes but this was one of the funniest movies I ever saw when I first saw it in the seventies.
Must admit my friends and I were all a little high but we couldn't stop laughing for days when we talked about it.

Joe's rating:

Comet (2014)
Emmy Rossum stars in this love story along with Jon Long. It is not typical and it is well worth watching in my opinion especially given that Rossum is the female lead.
Joe's rating:

Dennis Hopper in a fairly predictable demented role but a little redemption offered by having Asia Argento playing the role of the captive.
Joe's rating:

Delivery Man (2013)
The French original version was much better. Vince Vaugh is just mis-cast.
Joe's rating:

The Gambler (2014)
Good movie. Mark Wahlberg does a good job playing the lead character. Certainly one of his more challenging roles rather than the usual head banging types he usually plays.
Addiction is terrible , whether it's in the form of gambling or in it's other destructive forms.
It becomes certainly self destructive but it really gets bad when it hurts the ones you love.

Joe's rating:

A bombastic idiotic film worth a few chuckles. For the lighter times.
Joe's rating:

Great movie with a great soundtrack.
What can I say about M. Mcconaughey. He's always been one of those actors that I've hated to watch but lately he's been doing a much better job of choosing roles and also doing a good job acting in those roles.
I would say that this is the best I've ever seen him play a character in a movie although I certainly have not seen all his movies. He does a first rate job and seems to have been a perfect fit.

Suddenly (2013)
Waste your time with something else like having some pizza or catching a nap.
Joe's rating:

Movies watched or rewatched. These are almost all first time watched as I rarely watch a movie more than once in which case you will usually find it on my list of movies that I can watch over and over and over. These as 99% of my exceptions.
