The pioneers of the PC flight simulators, MicroProse had many major hits (Gunship, Silent Service, F-15 Strike Eagle, Stealth Fighter), from the early 80's to the mid '90s.
After Spectrum Holobyte (makers of the popular Falcon series of flight sims) bought them out, staff cuts at MicroProse caused its founder, Sid Meier (of Civilization and Pirates! fame) to leave, starting his own company (Firaxis). Most of the key members of the flight sim team left and went one to make the popular Jane's series of military simulators for EA.
It's a shame to see such a company with a rich history and true pioneers of PC gaming go down in flames like this, so here is a list of all their major simulator hits, in chronological order. Most of the early releases were on Commodore, Atari ST and Amiga, and I've added many of those releases to Listal's database, but I kept this list only geared towards the DOS/Windows releases.
I also tried to end the list in mid '90s when Spectrum bought them out, but decided to add three late 90s releases that were sequels to their classic hits.
