I didn't love it as much as everybody else seems to, but this is a solid, occasionally thriller picture. De Niro and Pacino are great here, with their diner confrontation an all-time great, and there are several expert action sequences, but it borders on boring too. I'm all for a slow, moody pic, but it felt like I had seen a lot of the movie before (Maybe it's just my age; I can tell that several movies took from this, but seeing them at such a young age ingrained them into me, resulting in a stale feeling here).

Stray Observation: I get that Val Kilmer was pretty big in 1995, but does that really explain putting his name on the poster next to two acting titans?

On this viewing, I wasn't particularly smitten with this one. In subsequent viewings however, I've fallen in love with the sheer stupidity of it all. The oddity, the lunacy, it all works for me.

A disappointing spinoff of the very funny Forgetting Sarah Marshall. It's funny in spots, and the leads are committed (Diddy steals the movie), but it just tries way too hard, and it feels strained as a result.

Stray Observation: I always thought that the plot of this one should have centered on Aldus, completely washed up, and back on a coke binge in Hawaii, where he runs into Jonah Hill's character from Sarah Marshall, and they try to re-ignite Aldus's career. Or something similar to that.

Not particularly great sci-fi, but its an effective actioner, and that's really all you can ask for with a film like this.
