Undertow - Tool
My favorite Tool album. Dark, brooding, weird (especially the way it ends with a narrative about a killer), brilliant. If only Tool was still making music this interesting.

Debut - Bjรถrk
I can't think of anything to say about this album that hasn't already been said.

Independent Worm Saloon - Butthole Surfers
Beavis & Butt-head introduced me to this one when they watched the video for "Who Was in My Room Last Night?". I bought the album expecting it to be heavy & what I got was one of the weirdest listening experiences of my life. No two songs were the same. There were funny songs, angry songs, songs that didn't sound like songs, and the vocals sounded like they were done my multiple people (this taught me about vocal manipulation)...it all taught me to check my expectations at the door in the future.
Favorite song: "Strawberry" (2nd place "The Annoying Song")

Bloody Kisses - Type O Negative
I originally bought the digipak release of this album first, a version which had 9 tracks that flowed together wonderfully & perfectly captured the overall theme of heartbreak that inspired the album. As a result it was for many years my favorite break-up album. Later I'd get around to picking up the other version, which had 2 short, heavy tracks, a slightly different song order, & a handful of filler tracks. While I love the heavier songs, I've always felt the digipak version is the better one so it's the one that truly holds this spot.

Last Splash - The Breeders
Still the best Breeders album & the only one I still listen to in its entirety.
Favorite song: "I Just Wanna Get Along"

Black Sunday - Cypress Hill
My introduction to Cypress Hill, which probably accounts for it being my favorite of theirs for so long. Some would argue their debut is better, to which I'd say it's simply a matter of taste & in my case I prefer this one.
Favorite song: "I Ain't Goin' Out Like That"

Pork Soda - Primus
A couple throwaway instrumentals toward the end of this album prevent it from earning a perfect score from me. Fortunately all the songs before them are among Primus's best.
Favorite song: "The Air Is Getting Slippery"

Vs. - Pearl Jam
For me Vs. falls just below Ten and Vitalogy when I rank them against each other. There's nothing on this album that's especially lacking, I just listen to the other two far more than I do this one.
Favorite song: "Animal"

Exile in Guyville - Liz Phair
Surely I don't need to comment on this one.
Favorite song: "Flower"

Angst - Kmfdm
Prior to this album I thought KMFDM was merely OK. This was the first album of theirs I really got into, thanks to hearing it in a friend's car one night while we were driving around. "Drug Against War" still makes me want to punch something.
Favorite song: "Sucks"

Linger Ficken' Good...And Other Barnyard Oddities... - Revolting Cocks
An interesting mix of fun & weirdness, which is rarely found in Industrial music.
Favorite song: Actually it's the title track, but unless you're already a fan that song won't appeal to you at all I suspect. So instead I give you my runner-up "Gila Copter"

As good as the movie it came from.
