Brokeback Mountain (2005)

Up until recently, gay films have been underground, exploited, pieces of cinema. The current brandishing of "queer cinema" was, and is, not a genre that is taken seriously. and while gay characters are prominent in every corner of the media nowadays, the following films either deal with Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Transexual, Queer, or Questioning characters and themes, and the hurdles that the community faces, including, but not limited to, bigotry, homophobia, AIDS/HIV, self-loathing, denial, stereotypes, bullying, etc. OR they celebrate the diversity of human sexuality by embracing love, family, and relationships in whatever form they take.
