Hugo (2011)
It looks gorgeous, and is a genuine love letter to both silent cinema and Georges Melies, from Martin Scorcese. A great film for kids and adults alike.
garfield2710's rating:

A Separation (2011)
The most morally complex and one of the most emotionally driven movies I've ever seen.
garfield2710's rating:

The Artist (2011)
It celebrates silent cinema like Hugo, but does it by immersing us in the same type of cinema it's praising. It's both entertaining and well made.
garfield2710's rating:

A magical and emotionally complex ending to a grim, great, saga.
garfield2710's rating:

Contagion (2011)
It's intense and chilling. It creates a terrifying what if scenario, and takes a realistic and dark approach.
garfield2710's rating:

The Descendants (2011)
Heartbreaking, funny, and intelligent, this film understands pain and loss and forgiveness, but also understands that nobody is perfect.
garfield2710's rating:

Source Code (2011)
This is a mind bending action film that is just as entertianing as it is challenging.
garfield2710's rating:

The Adventures of Tintin (2011)
This is a very fun adventure film that both adults and kids will like and enjoy.
garfield2710's rating:

The Adjustment Bureau (2011)
A fascinating and exciting deconstruction of free-will and destiny, told with great direction and wonderful chemistry from the two leads.
garfield2710's rating:

It's a visual marvel and it's messages about life and death stay with you long after you watch it, but it's not for everyone because it is incredibly slow.
garfield2710's rating:

The Help (2011)
Despite being a bit too long, this is a great look at life in the segregated South and the people in it.
garfield2710's rating:

Arthur Christmas (2011)
A story that is so simple and so beautifully done it's hard not to smile at the persitance of the protagonist.
garfield2710's rating:

Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011)
A surprisingly touching and improved sequel to an already great family film.
garfield2710's rating:

One of the greatest action films to come out in a long time. The action scenes are so intense my body was rigid throughout most of the film.
garfield2710's rating:

Winnie the Pooh (2011)
Despite being way, way too short, this is an entertaining and charming film.
garfield2710's rating:

Despite dabbling in moments of unoriginality, the film still manages to entertain and thrill, by marvelously twisting a well constructed plot, and offering some complex moral quibbles.
garfield2710's rating:

Hanna (2011)
This is a refreshingly original, and intense thriller, with excellent performances, and some deep insight.
garfield2710's rating:

Jane Eyre (2011)
It's composition is a little confusing, but the powerful acting and good story make this a grand period romance.
garfield2710's rating:

X-Men: First Class (2011)
This film took the best aspects of the previous X-Men films and upped it, though the ending is a bit rushed.
garfield2710's rating:

Midnight in Paris (2011)
Even though it's more in love with Paris than it's characters, this is a charming, smart and well written romance.
garfield2710's rating:

War Horse (2011)
A rough, but rewarding story about the relationship of a boy and his horse, and the war that seperated them.
garfield2710's rating:

The Muppets (2011)
It's weird and bizarre, there's no doubt about that, but it's also witty and very funny.
garfield2710's rating:

I've never seen a film about mathematics be so engaging or entertaining. A behind-the-scenes sports film. We need more of those.
garfield2710's rating:

Unknown (2011)
Action packed, off-the-wall, awesomeness. Though riddled with minor plot holes, this is an entertaining thrill ride.
garfield2710's rating:

It's a visual marvel (pun intended) and it's a really fun movie with great action sequences. Though I wish we'd seen more of Captain America in action.
garfield2710's rating:

High on imagination and inspiration, this film is both touching and entertaining.
garfield2710's rating:

Thor (2011)
Though it was hard to see some of the action scenes, it's a good fish-out-of-water, hero becomes humbled story.
garfield2710's rating:

Courageous (2011)
Striking up both a surprising amount of laughs and sorrow, this is a touching and rough look at fatherhood, but still lacks any subtlety.
garfield2710's rating:

The Beaver (2011)
A very bizarre dramedy that surprisingly works and has some great acting.
garfield2710's rating:

Though some of the charm of the other films is lost, it's still a rip roaring fun adventure film.
garfield2710's rating:

Soul Surfer (2011)
Despite some klunky acting and editing choices, this is still a touching and inspiring story of a girl who loses her arm, but not her faith.
garfield2710's rating:

Real Steel (2011)
As predictable as this film is, this is a great film with a lot of heart and nearly flawless visual effects. It's hard not to like this film.
garfield2710's rating:

This film is an improvement over it's predecessor, offering more laughs than the last.
garfield2710's rating:

Cowboys & Aliens (2011)
Has some great characters and is a fun mish-mash of sci-fi and western, though there is more emphasis on western than sci-fi.
garfield2710's rating:

Fast Five (2011)
Hey, they finally made a great Fast & Furious film. It embraces it's over-the-top brainless action, making for a very fun popcorn film.
garfield2710's rating:

Scream 4 (2011)
It's not a return to form for the Scream series, but it is a step in the right direction. There are shocking twists, scary moments, and it's just as self aware as the first two.
