The lost prophecy
The scene in the book:
Harry destroys Dumbledore's office, screaming at him. While Dumbledore just takes it calmly, and waits for Harry to come down from his fit. He then proceeds to tell Harry almost everything he's been hiding from him.

In the movie:
not nearly as emotional or raw, They pretty much just have a small altercation and talk it out.

Snape's Worst Memory

In the book:
While Snape is distracted, Harry enters one of his memories through the penseive. He follows Snape as he goes throught his OWLS test, and follows him out into the grounds, where he sees what kind of person his father truly was. He is devastated at the cruelty his father shows to Snape, and sees him in a new light. He also sees that his mother wasn't very fond of his father at the time the memory took place.

In the movie:
Harry and snape are practicing Occlumency, and Harry breaks into Snape's mind using a shielding spell, he sees several of snapes memories, including the one above, but he is thrown out before he really sees anything.

Beyond the veil(The death of Sirius Black)
The book:
Harry and his friends are fighting off Death eaters in The Department of Mysteries, when the Order suddenly Appears. The otrder, including Sirius, start to help harry. Sirius faces off with Bellatrix Lestrange, and she performs an unnamed spell(read: unnamed) which causes Sirius to fall back through the veil to his death. Harry, screams for Sirius, thinking he just fell to the other side. when he realizes sirius is gone, he starts to run after Bellatrix, but Lupin holds him back.

The movie:
Harry and his friends fight the death eaters. The order then appears and takes over. Sirius faces off with Bellatrix, and she defeats him with the killing curse(Avada Kedavra). Harry goes after Bellatrix, and Lupin holds him back.

The Advance Guard:
The book:
Harry, who has been in his room for weeks, is finally given free reign in his aunt and uncle's house when they leave for a convention. The order breaks into the house to come and rescue Harry. They introduce themselves, most importan are; Nymphadora Tonks, the real Mad Eye Moody, and Kingsley Shacklebolt. they help Harry pack up, and they leave.

The movie:
The order shows up at the house, they barely speak (tonks introduces herself as "don't call me nymphadora")
They leave with Harry.


(note: I included this scene because, in the book, it introduces important people into the plot. In the movie they're treated as unimportant side characters, and not properly introduced.)

A peck of owls

The book:
This scene introduces a hint of Petunia's character. An owl appears at Harry's aunt and uncle's house,its note informing them that Harry is in danger of expulsion from Hogwarts. Petunia and Vernon are deciding to throw Harry out when another owl appears with a note from Arthur Weasley, saying that dumbledore will sort things out. Yet another owl appears bearing a letter from the ministry for magic, stating that Harry must appear at a hearing. Petunia also receives a note (a howler), it is from dumbledore. the howler, in Dumbledore's voice, says "remember my last". Petunia lets Harry stay in the house.

The movie:

Dudley Demented
The book:
Harry sits on a swing in a small park when he hears Dudley and his friends approaching. Dudley sees Harry and sends his friends away. He starts to tease Harry about nightmares that Harry has been having. Angry, Harry pulls out his wand and threatens Dudley with it. Dementors appear, scaring Dudley, and making the street dark. Harry fights of the dementors in front of dudley, who is now catatonic, harry carries Dudley through the neighborhood and his neighbor, Arabella Figg appears, revealing that she is a squib. she helps Harry bring Dudley home.

The movie;
Harry is at the park and Dudley starts teasing him, they fight and walk to a dark tunnel, then the dementors appear. Harry scares them off and meets Figg, who reveals that she is a squib.
