It's been 10 years since the release of Silicon Knights' Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem on the Nintendo Gamecube, and I'm a little ashamed to admit that this was my first play of the game. That isn't to say it's the first I'd heard of it. On the contrary, I felt compelled to write this review because of how much I'd read prior to playing. This game makes the Top 10 on practically every horr... read more

One of the best Gamecube games ever made! Haunting, moody soundtrack, artistic, and cinematically would make an excellent film.

Very original game that hasn't aged particularly well. It starts off great, with a creepy atmosphere and interesting settings and story. Towards the end, the clunky controls and frustrating gameplay became very annoying to me, to the point where when I finished it I was just glad to be done with the game. That said, I'd still recommend it to people. It's fun, if you like this era of survival horro... read more

Description: Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is a psycological thriller brought to you by the Canadian based Silicon Knights. In ED, you play a total of twelve characters, spanning several locations and dates. You will play in Ancient Rome, Persia, the Middle East, and modern-day Rhode Island. Throughout the game, you will have access to several projectile and melee weapons, such as swords, torches, shotguns, and pistols. ED features a unique Magick system, which requires you to combine different Runes to create different magick spells. Gaming - The Most Underappreciated Games (29 games items)

"This game is definitely amongst the greatest Gamecube games of all time, and it did not receive any HD release of any kind. Such a unique and immersive gaming experience with incredible writing, interesting characters, fresh controls, an atmospheric and beautiful soundtrack, and great replay value that must be played 3 times. The low sales do not match its high quality. You must own this game. It's essential."

My Favourite Games (54 games items)

"Underrated horror gem. This is kinda like a Chtulu the video game, but the story is told in anthology style. They planned a sequel, but it never happened."

"The little I played showed promise. I do want to finish playing. It seems like a modern survival horror."

Gaming - My Favorite Moments in Gaming (64 games items)

"In order to have the maximum immersive experience in Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, make sure you have the following audio and visual setup: Play in Dolby Pro Logic II audio output. For Gamecube titles like this and Star Fox Adventures, they offer a 16:9 presentation. Make sure you play this with a progressive scan compatible television (not HDTV) with the screen formatted to 16:9. Not 4:3. If you only have an HDTV, then just make sure the screen is 16:9. If you are playing this on the Ga"

My Dream Game to Movie Adaptions (9 games items)

"After witnessing one of the most beautiful stories in a video game, I reflected on this game hard on the idea that Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem would make an excellent piece of cinema. Basically, I would like to see it with an adapted script covering the best and most vital parts of the game as well as keep the first couple of scenes very similar to the game. Just as Shyamalan did with the first few minutes of The Last Airbender, it followed very close to the 1st episode of the show. Some"
