" Now the guys's name whom this movie is based on was Alex Sanchin, but in the script, they renamed him Ivan. Why? Who knows. Maybe the producers of this film thought that audiences would feel more comfortable with a more stereotypical Russian name for a story set deep within the Soviet Union. Also, Alex Sanchin (or Ivan as the character in this flick) was famous for being Joseph Stalin's private film projectionist.
