Exiled from his Spanish homeland, director Luis Bunuel set up shop in Mexico. Here he made his only American-financed film, The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe. "9.12. 2023 The classical story by Daniel Defoe: Robinson Crusoe creates his own native kingdom on an exotic island where he brings all the upper class habits and colonial delusions. Buñuel's only English language film feels unfinished, but it is still exciting and strong statement regarding moral decay of so-called civilized people."

Robinson befriends a native man and teaches him some useful skills. The Bible helps the main character to survive but his new friend manages to ask some pretty intelligent questions regarding god and faith. Buñuel's only English language film presents shortened version of the story but it's not a big problem."
