Music and Lyrics is completely sappy, predictable, and silly---but, in spite of all this, is also completely enjoyable.

the best part of the movie is the 1980's style music---especially the music video, and the Pop-Up video-type facts on the Pop music video at the end of the movie, while the credits roll.

This is definitely one I will watch agan.

This is your basic rom-com, made from your basic rom-com blue prints. It is, like most of its genre, a nice watch. Easy to follow, warm and fuzzy, inevitably forgettable.

The only thing that makes 'Music & Lyrics' worth my recommendation is the tongue-in-cheek way it was made. It doesn't expect to be taken seriously, it doesnt pretend to deal with any real issues. A further plus ... read more

Alex Fletcher (Hugh Grant) from the 1980s band named PoP, needs to write a song within the next few days for Cora Corman (Haley Bennett), an internationally acclaimed singer. Soon Alex meets Sophie Fisher (Drew Barrymore) who apparently has a talent for writing lyrics, but refuses to acknowledge it.

Description: In New York, the washed-up singer Alex Fletcher has a decadent career singing his old hits in amusement parks, school reunions or dinner parties to survive. In the 80´s, he was a successful singer of the band POP with Collin Thompson, but when his partner split, his solo-career was a complete failure. "At this point I've seen too many of these. I can say, one positive of the endless romcoms at work is my newfound appreciation for Drew Barrymore, who never feels fake or contrived. Her goofiness is more believable than most characters in these things. I still don't "get" Hugh Grant though, I don't see the sex appeal that let him star in approximately ten million of these things. "
