Curse of the Crimson Altar is a 1968 British horror film directed by Vernon Sewell and starring Christopher Lee, Boris Karloff, Barbara Steele and Mark Eden. The film was produced by Louis M. Heyward for Tigon British Film Productions. The film was edited and released as The Crimson Cult in the United States. The screenplay, by Doctor Who writers Mervyn Haisman and Henry Lincoln, was based (uncredited) on the short story "The Dreams in the Witch House" by H. P. Lovecraft. This film also featured one of the final film appearances of horror heavyweight Karloff.

The Good & The Bad - Movies Watched In 2017 (472 movies items)

"Three legends of the horror genre come together in this little seen British occult movie: Christopher Lee, Boris Karloff and Barbara Steele. The plot is about a young antiques dealer visiting a spooky looking mansion in search of his missing brother, only to uncover a witchcraft cult. There may be no blood in this movie but it is very atmospheric and at times psychedelic. Christopher Lee is great as he always is and Boris Karloff shines in one of his last roles as an eccentric old witchcraft exp"
