You have some directors who keeps making the same movie over and over again. For some directors (like Woody Allen), it is getting pretty annoying and you wish they tried something else. For some other directors (like Christopher Nolan, David Fincher, Martin Scorsese,...), you don't mind that they keep making similar pictures as long as they keep such a high quality.

This list deals with another kind of directors. It seems that those guys have a check list and every time they are done with a specific genre, you can almost hear them think "Check!" and they move on with something completely different with their next project. I called them the versatile directors.

Of course, suggestions are most welcome!
