Manhunter (1986)
The first movie to feature the wonderfully intelligent and macabre Dr Lecter. This film is a classic on its own, wich actually has a very meager portrailal of the famous super intellectual cannibal. Its focus lies on detective Will Graham, instead of Dr lecter played by Brian Cox. But, its sooo good!!!

"Have you ever seen blood in the moonlight, Will? It appears quite black."

Hannibal was a cute cuddly baby once too, and this is the story of his life, a transformation from man to monster. No Anthony Hopkins in this one either, but it fits so well in the series, it blends right in. Gaspard Ulliel is a very believable young Lecter, best cast i could imagine for the role.

"I've come to collect a head."

Not a remake of Manhunter, but a new interpretation of the novel. With none other then our beloved Anthony Hopkins. Both are awesome films, and different in so many ways, i cant pick the better one.

Holy shit, mother of all movies... just watch it.

"Look for severe childhood disturbances associated with violence. Our Billy wasn't born a criminal, Clarice. He was made one through years of systematic abuse. Billy hates his own identity, you see, and he thinks that makes him a transsexual. But his pathology is a thousand times more savage and more terrifying."

Hannibal (2001)
As a love story at the heart of it, its the least of the Lecter films in my opinion, but refreshing at the same time. I really missed out on the Memory Palace from the novel, wich i would have loved to see in this film, but alas, no such scene. But its good to see our little cannibal walk free a change.

"Tell me Clarice, would you ever say to me stop. If you loved me, you'd stop?"
