Attack of the Clones (2002)
I peed my pants in glee when Yoda dropped the cane and started jumping around like the Jedi Master we heard about. That was the only thing this film had going for it. It was much worse than I remembered.
The Phantom Menace (1999)
One word doomed the entire movie: "Yippee!" by stupid kid Anakin. If only there had been more Darth Maul.
Revenge of the Sith (2005)
That final battle between Obi-Wan and Anakin was epic in every sense of the word. Much better than I remembered.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
I know that Harrison Ford is irreplaceable and I know that a lot of people despised Last Jedi because they thought it ruined their childhood or some sh*t, but this movie was much better than the haters will have you believe.
Star Wars: A New Hope (1977)
Probably would be higher if I was alive in 1977 when it first came out, but the acting left a lot to be desired. Still, there would be no Star Wars without it.
Return of the Jedi (1983)
This was my favorite Star Wars movie as a kid, until I saw the Special Editions in the theater. Even the Ewoks were cool and cuddly back then.
Everything about this film was refreshing, and seeing Vader unleash the dark side... Damn; I feared for my life.
The Force Awakens (2015)
I am in love with Rey and BB-8. This movie singlehandedly reignited my passion for Star Wars like no other.
No other quote in movie history rings this loudly in my head: "Join me and together we can rule the galaxy as father and son."
A much needed kick in the junk for Star Wars. The formula of "good guy always wins" was played out. It was time to see some failure! And failure there was! Luke Skywalker was never my favorite character in Star Wars (that would be Yoda), but Mark Hamill as a old curmudgeon and tainted Luke was gratifying. People change over the years. You can't always be that wide eyed kid you once were, looking out at two suns in Tatooine. Life is full of jadedness (if that's even a word).
After seeing (and loving the sh*t out of) Rogue One, I feel obligated to list my favorite Star Wars movies in order. FYI: I marathoned five of the six films before Episode VII came out last year. Many of the films I had not seen in years.
