2. Because he's lived a life of war, can kill the best soldier without effort in under 15 seconds, and is the best soldier in mythology (according the the film) and yet he lives by an unbreakable set of morals and honor that he will not break...even for a king.
3. Because he was willing to take on a garrison of men just to save a slave girl from being attacked.
4. Because he was willing to give up destiny, glory, and a name that enters into immortality for that very same slave girl.
5. Because his loyalty lies with his men, his family, and the woman he loves...and is far above the petty quarrels of two kingdoms.

3. Because he was able to pull himself out of the ashes that Fermina created, learn from his mistakes, and make a LOT of money...then use it all on her once again.
4. OK, so the idea of 500 women isn't so appealing, but it was done to ease the pain of losing his love, and at least he made an effort to remember every one of their names and faces.
5. Because he was willing to pass the rest of eternity alone on an Amazon steamboat with her in his arms.
