Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Nintendo Wii
No game is perfect, but it is very hard for me to think of a game that comes closer to that distinction than this one. Gorgeous graphics, fun music, easy to pick up and play, tons of replay and innovation. Just, well, perfect.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island - Super famicom and SNES
Yeah, it's hard as all hell. No, it's probably not the best in the series (though it's still great). But it's just so creative, and different, and nice to look at. There is nothing else like it and I personally love the hell out of it.
wordsasbombs's rating:
Super Mario Bros. 3 - Famicom and NES
I can't think of any other game that is better to get any possible group of people to sit down and have fun for hours.
wordsasbombs's rating:
Super Mario 64 - Nintendo 64
Maybe it's just me, but despite being the game that innovated 3d platforming, this game just gets better with age. I have so many fond memories of renting a n64 just to play this and completely immersing myself.
wordsasbombs's rating:
Super Mario 3D Land - Nintendo 3DS
A beautiful marriage of modern and old school Mario that is a damn near masterpiece if you appreciate it for what it is, and that's a perfect homage to the series.
wordsasbombs's rating:
Super Mario World - Super famicom and SNES
The first Mario that really felt like it had a lot of depth, I wasted countless hours on this game to get everything, and loved every bit of it.
wordsasbombs's rating:
New Super Mario Bros. - Nintendo DS
Few games are just as purely and simply fun as this one.
wordsasbombs's rating:
New Super Mario Bros. Wii - Nintendo Wii
Lacks some of the clever level designs the rest of the series has, but makes up for it with the best multiplayer.
wordsasbombs's rating:
Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels - Wii Virtual Console
What can I say, I'm a glutton for punishment.
wordsasbombs's rating:
Super Mario Bros. - Famicom and NES
Hard to play when Mario 3 essentially does everything it does but better, but still an absolute classic.
wordsasbombs's rating:
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins - Game Boy
Not as bad as you might expect, but still nowhere near the quality of the other real mario titles.
wordsasbombs's rating:
Super Mario Bros. 2 - Famicom and NES
Technically not even a real Mario, and definitely flawed, but I still love it for how outright bizarre it is.

Still need to play
As per the norm, based on personal opinion and bias (as are all things). I'm just sticking to the main series platformers here. I haven't played them all yet so some will be added over time.
