1984 Nineteen Eighty-four (Penguin Modern Classics)... - George Orwell
The greatest book ever! George Orwell's dystopian world is so freakishly similar to todays that it's not even funny.
Another of his major works is Animal Farm, but I didn't quite like it much since the protagonists were animals and thus garnered more of my sympathy.

Atlas Shrugged - Ayn Rand
I loved this book, but I cheated a bit and skipped John Galt's speech over the radio half way through since it seemed to go on and on about the same subject.

Pennywise gave me nightmares for days after I saw Tim Curry taking up the role.
Still an awesome book.

The Inferno of Dante - Dante Alighieri,Robert Pinsky
I read all three books: Inferno, purgatory, and paradise.
Hell was fun, purgatory was interesting, but paradise was a bore.

The movies were good, but the books will still be superior, as is the case with most novels.
