Those that surpassed the original
The rare feat of a sequel that's better than its predecessor. These met the quota.
Back to the Future Part II (1989)
I think every Back to the future movie is excellent, so I don't really have much to say. One of my favorite films of all-time.

Hostel: Part II (2007)
To me, this just may surpass the original. It has more interesting characters, and the atmosphere is more eerie. A LOT of people hate this series, however, I kind of love it :)
The Cineast's rating:

Iron Man 2 (2010)
Better than the first, and now one of my favorite superhero films. As long as 'RDJ' stays on board, I'll continue watching.
The Cineast's rating:

Wrong Turn 2: Dead End (2007)
A lot of people don't like this movie, but I found it drastically entertaining. Better than the first one.

Great Sequels....
that aren't quite as good as the original. Great isn't a word I throw around a lot though, so it means a lot.
The Bourne Supremacy (2004)
An excellent flick to follow up the previous "The Bourne Identity". Not as much action, but still a great story, and entertaining es ever. Very well made.
The Cineast's rating:

Excellently made follow up to the original. Maybe even better. "Pirates" is a great series.

The Quite Good Sequels
On the cusp of greatness, these sequels still don't surpass their predecessors, but that doesn't matter.
The Dark Knight (2008)
Although I find this film majorly overrated, it still works mightily well, and is definitely worthy of at least some of the recognition it receives.
The Cineast's rating:

You can't go wrong with Home alone, well unless you watch the third one. Thank god Lost in New York was great, and still had the original cast.
The Cineast's rating:

Analyze That (2002)
Robert De Niro and Billy Crystal strike gold again. I am a big fan of both films, they are hysterical and easily worth a purchase.
The Cineast's rating:

X2: X-Men United (2003)
All the X-men films amuse me, including this one. Keep it up.
The Cineast's rating:

Rush Hour 2 (2001)
Still has enough funny moments to be considered a classic Chan/Tucker flick. The third one is where they went wrong.
The Cineast's rating:

Worthy
These follow-ups are good, worthy films. Not much else to say. Nothing particularly special about them, but very worth the watch.
The Hills Have Eyes 2 (2007)
Entertaining as all hell, atmospheric, and violent. A horror flick that doesn't require many brains, but works perfectly just the way it is.
The Cineast's rating:

The Godfather: Part II (1974)
Overrated, and not even close to the caliber of the first one, but still rather good.
