Enjoyable for what it is, an updated version of Hitchcock's "Rear Window".

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 2021 Average listal rating (1232 ratings) 6.9 IMDB Rating 7

A nice romantic that doesn't pair well with Butler's other movie from this year (300).
Stehako's rating:

Director: Shari Springer Berman & Robert Pulcini
Their 4th movie
My 2nd movie watched from the director

Just when I think I've seen all of what 2007 had to offer my wife introduces me to this movie. It's nothing special but certainly better than I expected. Sure, filled with lots of cliches, but Johansson and Linney form a nice antagonist chemistry and the ending is sad and sweet.

Added to Lists:

Central Park in Movies
Top Ten Performances - Scarlett Johansson
Iconic Dresses of Cinema - Black

Solid cinematography and the greatest polar bear fight caught on film.

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 632 Average listal rating (422 ratings) 6.5 IMDB Rating 7
The Kingdom (2007)

Decent modern war story; but too generic to really hold my interest enough to see it ever again.
Stehako's rating:

Middle of the pack for Sandler and his gang. Funny cameos and it actually does a good job of NOT making fun of the gay community rather it makes fun of those who make fun of them. Something people didn't seem to understand and thus called it a homophobic movie.
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 49 Average listal rating (27 ratings) 7.3 IMDB Rating 8.1
Stehako's rating:

A sweet little Scottish family film that doesn't wow you at any point; but makes you care for a huge sea creature nonetheless.
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 1336 Average listal rating (948 ratings) 6.8 IMDB Rating 7.2
Shooter (2007)

Whalberg turns in his usual meager performance but Kate Mara makes up for it and the film actually delivers a few surprises and maintained my interest.
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 1315 Average listal rating (834 ratings) 5.8 IMDB Rating 6.2
Rush Hour 3 (2007)

I really liked the first one, nearly loved the second one; so, needless to say, this one was disappointing.
Still had enough of what I wanted - Banter and Chan choreography.
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 362 Average listal rating (227 ratings) 6.9 IMDB Rating 7
Breach (2007)

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 671 Average listal rating (431 ratings) 7.2 IMDB Rating 7.6

Nothing too wildly original in this film that found Swank stuck in a poorly written script; but still comes out looking good.
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 577 Average listal rating (289 ratings) 7.5 IMDB Rating 7.5

A beautiful film with an average love story.
Stehako's rating:

Malkovich has a blast with this role but I kind of lost interest half way through after seeing him pull the same stuff over and over.

Stehako's rating:

Nick Cage finds things and then more things and throws in some unoriginal humor and then finds more things until he finds what he really wants.
Stehako's rating:

Director: Sarah Polley
Her First Movie
My 3rd movie watched from the director.

A tough movie to watch, not because it's not good, but because I am a husband and this is a scenario I hope I never have to face. It's a beautiful depiction of a devoted husband having to face the reality of his wife's ailment, that most notably, does not allow her to remember things... and eventually him. It's completely frustrating, sad, and lovely. I won't spoil the end, of course, but I am happy with it and I certainly liked this more than I thought I would.

The two lead performances are very strong and likely memorable. I love Julie Christie, but I am unfamiliar with Gordon Pinsent. I am not sure how he hasn't been cast in more big-picture work.

The TV Set (2006)
Duchovny is great in this flat film about TV shows making it on the air.

Persepolis (2007)

Clive Owen adds some interesting scenes, and of course the story is good and Cate will always be amazing. Bonus points for the cinematography/production design improvement over the first one.

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 1014 Average listal rating (663 ratings) 6.9 IMDB Rating 7.4

A slap-stick British comedy with a solid cast but mediocre characters.
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 283 Average listal rating (176 ratings) 5.9 IMDB Rating 6

Baumbach writing mixed with his usual directing of unusual performances.
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 269 Average listal rating (167 ratings) 7.4 IMDB Rating 7.5

Denzel's directorial debut is respectable; but not nearly as great as his performance ability.
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 53 Average listal rating (28 ratings) 6.3 IMDB Rating 7.1

A comical documentary about what most of us think when we're in modern art galleries. Because they started filming early on in the family's career, it made it interesting not knowing where they were going with the doc.
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 236 Average listal rating (151 ratings) 6.5 IMDB Rating 6.8

A very low budget and charming New Zealand film with Jemaine Clement, from "Flight of the Conchords"
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 1841 Average listal rating (1155 ratings) 6.9 IMDB Rating 7.4

Two great actors in a decent film about getting it done before you kick it. About friendship, love, life.

The Mist (2007)

A warm-up of sorts to Darabont's 'The Walking Dead'. It's psychological horror at its purest. The main thing that brings this down is the acting, and surprisingly, the directing. Darabont nails the King drama/horror but this is on a lower level than 'The Green Mile' and 'Shawshank Redemption'.

The ending horrible yet brilliant at the same time.

A lot of interesting dialogue with two actors I really like, along with creative storytelling. However I think it could have worked better as a 20 minute short, not an entire movie
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 320 Average listal rating (175 ratings) 6.5 IMDB Rating 6.6

It's refreshing to see Douglas back in a likable role and movie and Evan Rachel Wood has gotten my attention this year with this movie and "Across the Universe"
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 546 Average listal rating (323 ratings) 6.6 IMDB Rating 7
The Lookout (2007)

A stoic thriller with a breakout performance by Levitt
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 830 Average listal rating (511 ratings) 6.6 IMDB Rating 6.9

A strange film that made me feel dirty; but still good quality and Jackson does great in this music-centered role.

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 910 Average listal rating (597 ratings) 6.8 IMDB Rating 7.3
Mr. Brooks (2007)

A wild role for Costner, possibly his best non-sports role I've seen since 'Wolves'. The ending of the film was awesome if it ended when it should have. If they stuck with the scene I'm referring to then this film could have made the top 50.
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 10 Average listal rating (7 ratings) 5.7 IMDB Rating 0

A wild documentary that will have you scared to ever visit Sau Paulo.

Stehako's rating:

A fun look at a crazy DJ during the Civil Rights movement of the 60s. Cheadle is awesome, as usual.
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 1104 Average listal rating (677 ratings) 7.1 IMDB Rating 7.5
August Rush (2007)

Great music, though a bit hokey. Robin Williams in another 2000's unlikable role.
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 104 Average listal rating (56 ratings) 7.7 IMDB Rating 7.5

Alex Gibney tells the compelling, disgusting story of torture in the modern world. This is a documentary all US citizens need to see.
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 1119 Average listal rating (756 ratings) 6.4 IMDB Rating 6.8

Surprisingly good. A few twists and turns with a fun soundtrack and funny characters; but boasting only average CG animation.
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 398 Average listal rating (231 ratings) 7 IMDB Rating 7.1
Solid script and fun performances in this indie comedy.

How could you not love Amy Adams after this film? Some fun songs and good use of tongue-in-cheek humor.

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 210 Average listal rating (149 ratings) 6.4 IMDB Rating 6.7
A bear bones adventure with two grounded performances from Neeson and Brosnan

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 132 Average listal rating (78 ratings) 7.1 IMDB Rating 7.5
The Namesake (2007)

Kal Penn should do more films like this. Come on, Kal - "Epic Movie" films or "The Namesake" films, make the right choice.
Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 1572 Average listal rating (948 ratings) 6.2 IMDB Rating 6.6
Hairspray (2007)

A great cast with pretty likable music; but John Waters probably doesn't like it.

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 1053 Average listal rating (596 ratings) 7.5 IMDB Rating 7.6

Beautiful performance by Cotillard; but the story didn't interest me as much as the singing.

Excellent fight scenes and one gorgeous Lena Headey

Fracture (2007)

It's been a while since I've seen Hopkins in a good flick and Gosling is on a roll.

Shoot 'Em Up (2007)
The title says it all. From start to finish this is a wild ride and gloriously violent.

Stehako's rating:
People who added this item 2234 Average listal rating (1505 ratings) 6.3 IMDB Rating 6.8

I don't like slasher movies and I rarely enjoy horror movies because they don't actually scare me. This film sort of scared me on a few different levels, plus it had me fooled a couple times.
