Rubber Soul - The Beatles
Update, round 2: The Beach Boys listened to this, and they were all like, Wow, they really put out, not just a collection of songs, but a real Album. Maybe we could....

Revolver - The Beatles
I like this album much more than I once did. It might even be as good as "Help!" which I think I once declared as the greatest, and "Rubber Soul".... if you listen to it twice, and "Taxman" follows "Tomorrow Never Knows", right-- that's kinda funny.
Albums are all about arrangement.

Magical Mystery Tour - The Beatles
Update: This is a pretty under-rated album, in my opinion. By this point, the Beatles had managed to reconcile their new, late-60s artistry with the ability to be goofy and fun-loving and not too serious, even more than before. And at the same time, several of the songs are very thoughtful, without overwhelming you. That's what I think, at any rate. It's really good stuff.

Rubber Soul to Let It Be.
Work in progress. Words no longer flow off my lips as they once did.

Here's part of the difference: the Early Beatles are *excited*; the later Beatles are mellow.
.............
And, I mean, the commercials on Ed Sullivan were a little clinical-- they could be a little better off in their Yellow Submarine studio, maybe listening to the Byrds, in '65. "If I Needed Someone", right?
