One of the more oddball Beatles albums, and therefore a personal favorite. Features such songs as the majestic "Strawberry Fields Forever", the effervescent "All You Need is Love", and the downright bizarro "I Am the Walrus"
Good stuff.
P.S. Writing reviews for Beatles albums seems a bit pointless. I mean, who doesn't like The Beatles? Who actually bucked the trend, and sits obstinatel... read more

The Magical Mystery Tour is truly special.

I notice that I listen to it alot.

It makes the feelings of sadness travel far away.

It's rather nice, yes, but it's also.... truly special.

I like "Pet Sounds". "Pet Sounds" is like a full day, (and sometimes, more than once in a row, lol....).... "Magical Mystery Tour" is like a train ride ... read more

Description: Magical Mystery Tour is an album by the English rock band the Beatles that was released as a double EP in the United Kingdom and an LP in the United States. Produced by George Martin, it includes the soundtrack to the 1967 film of the same name. The EP was issued in the UK on 8 December 1967 on the Parlophone label, while the Capitol Records LP release in the US occurred on 27 November and featured eleven tracks with the addition of songs from the band's 1967 singles. The first release as an eleven-track LP in the UK did not occur until 1976. Despite widespread media criticism of the Magical Mystery Tour film, the soundtrack ... (more)

50 Essential Albums of 1967 (50 music items)

"Because it begins with the lame theme to their worst movie and the sappy "Fool on the Hill," few realize that this serves up three worthy obscurities forthwith โ€“ bet Beck knows the sour-and-sweet instrumental "Flying" by heart. Then it A/Bs three fabulous singles. "Penny Lane"/"Strawberry Fields Forever" may be the finest two-sided record in history. Goo goo g'joob, so may "Hello Goodbye"/"I Am the Walrus." "Baby You're a Rich Man"? OK, not in that league. Which is why it bows humbly before "A"

Best Beatles Albums (14 music items)

"This gets dinged by me for not really being a true album. Most of the songs were previously released as singles. Some of the obscure tracks are great ("Baby I'm A Rich Man" and "Flying"), but "Fool on the Hill" is among my least favorite of their hits."
