While the title is hand-designed, the band's name is actually in Helvetica, the popular font developed in 1957.

Contra - Vampire Weekend
Vampire Weekend use Futura not only on their cover of Contra, but also in their lyrics: "she never saw bombs exploded in 96 point Futura" (from "Holiday").

The Nirvana logo we have come to associate with the band is written in the Bodoni typeface, a serif dating back to 1798.

Weezer (The Blue Album) - Weezer
The band hit the jackpot using a relatively new font, Century Gothic, as the typeface for their name, sticking with it on subsequent albums.

Stranger Than Fiction - Bad Religion
Bad Religion adopted a standard font for their name early on, choosing Friz Quadrata. The font apparently goes well with punk rock as both Black Flag and The Offspring have also used the typeface.
