Nothing much to say about this, pretty confusing and boring at parts. Not a fan of this series.

I'm really confused about what actually happened in this movie. I get most of it, it's just what's behind it all that's a big mystery and not much is explained. There are a ton of hints sprinkled throughout the film, but it still isn't enough to convince me on any possible theory being the correct one. Sort of a cop-out ending, but the build up is pretty fantastic. Recommended if you know you won't get mad at an unexplained ending.

Pretty good. Nothing much to say about this other than that I liked the characters and it held my attention. The attempted "swerve" bothered me, especially because it was only done to make you think the movie was going to end differently than you knew it was.

This felt like a live action feature length version of Robot Chicken (without the parodies), and that's not really a bad thing. The worst part of this is the actual story that links together all of the short films. Some of the shorts were genuinely funny and a lot of them were unique ideas that probably would have never seen the light of day without a movie like this happening. The superhero speed dating, truth or dare, and basketball ones were my favourites. Some of them sucked though, like Beezel, the leprechaun one and the opening one.

This movie is very well done, just because of how much the second half of it completely messes with your mind. It took me a good half an hour to figure out just what exactly had happened and why certain characters were saying certain things at the end. I still don't know if I have it all correct either. Recommended, and the music is awesome too.

Quantum of Solace (2008)

I really enjoyed the first 40 minutes or so of this one, but after that it got really boring. All of the action scenes were great, and the first half of the film was filled with them, but then the plot took over. I wasn't a fan of the plot, the villain, or the Bond girl. I didn't care about Bond and Camille's connection at all. Most of the plot was largely uninteresting, but they did a good job of wrapping it up nicely at the end. Not horrible, not great.

Poltergeist (2015)
Watched: 03/03/16
I've never seen the original film, so I may be coming from a weird place, but a lot of things bothered me about this movie. The tree, the endless closet, the entire second half, the first paranormal investigator thinking the family has created a hoax story just one scene after he witnessed the poltergeist in action...I mean, seriously? This movie just felt so unrealistic, to the point where I couldn't enjoy it very much. It's also far too fast paced for my liking, and I didn't like much of the acting (although I care far more about story in movies anyway). There are far worse movies than this out there though, that's for sure.

Deadpool (2016)

I never thought the Deadpool character would translate as well to film as he has to video games, but wow, this really did work. This movie pokes fun at everything people love to hate about the X-Men franchise, and superhero movies in general. It doesn't just stop there either, cracking jokes about other movie series, music, and just about anything you could possibly think of. Actual laugh out loud funny jokes. Not the best comic book movie of all-time, but probably the most unique (at least that I can think of). Everything about it has that Deadpool charm that fans know and love, and it manages to distract just enough from the fact that this isn't a Marvel Cinematic Universe film. Pretty good stuff.

Contracted: Phase II (2015)
Watched: 02/06/16
Well, it only took two movies for this story arc to get completely off-the-wall crazy. How about instead of adding a nonsensical murder plot that heavily affects the story of the original movie, you just don't make a sequel. The murder plot appears to only be there to distract from the fact that otherwise, this is the same story as the first movie but with a different character. There's a built-in reasoning as to why this new main character is "contracted", so why complicate everything so much. It's beyond annoying. It feels like this movie hits all of the major intended plot points of the series, and the first one (which is excellent) was just the set-up. I hate this so much, not even the awesome soundtrack could save it. And the worst part, a third movie is teased.

Inside Out (2015)

This was fine. Definitely not the worst Pixar offering of all time, but certainly not even close to the best. I really, really liked some of the concepts they used in this, but ultimately it falls way short of expectations. That's probably because the target audience seems to be set so young, which also makes some of the jokes cringe-worthy. I actually think the story of Riley moving and not fitting in (taking away the reason this happens) is better than anything that happens inside of her brain, mostly because all of the inside the brain stuff is a generic Murphy's Law spectacle.

Funny People (2009)
Watched: 01/23/16
This can easily be described as a good movie that completely overstays its welcome. There is absolutely no reason for it to have a runtime that's well over two hours in length. This kind of feels like an episode of Family Guy, where in it starts with one story and ends with a completely different one. I found it fairly jarring. A lot of the jokes are legitimately funny though, and this is in no way a bad movie, it just has its problems.

Aliens (1986)

I love the original Alien, but I'm not as big of a fan of this sequel as most people seem to be. Sure, it's okay, but I found myself fairly bored throughout most of this movie. The child seemed completely forced, as if the writers were told that they needed a kid in danger or something. The ending confrontation was pretty cool, until I realized what I had just watched and had to go check if I put in the correct disc. Meh, this still isn't bad I guess.

I've slept on this, and I really still don't know how to feel about this movie. The director does a pretty good job at making the weird couple feel extremely creepy, but the ending just threw everything off for me.

Wow, now this is an interesting idea and concept. I loved this movie from start to finish. The "office" scene towards the end of the movie might actually be one of my favourite scenes in any movie (from a storytelling perspective at least). The ending is a great pay-off to an excellent story, very well done in my opinion. The title is also amazing.

I really enjoyed this movie. The last 30 minutes or so are especially awesome, and had me as close to the edge of my seat as watching a film at home can possible get me. Kind of a slow build, but nothing boring about it. Slow builds work when they actually build to something. I definitely wish I went to see this in theatres, just for the atmosphere alone. Best picture? I don't quite know about that but I have yet to see any other nominees.
