Movies the giraffe watched in 2021: July (49 movies items)"First viewing - July 18th Going by the reviews I expected this to be a complete trainwreck, but the casting kept pulling me to give it a look regardless. And it's not as bad as its reputation suggests. Granted it's unnecessary when Rear Window already exists, and this film can't compete at all. But for a small-stakes mystery it worked fine enough. The cast is as good as you'd expect, even if some of them could have been given more to do. Amy Adams does the best she can with what she's provided "
“Since this movie had been really poorly received, I didn’t expect much from the damned thing but since it was directed by Joe Wright and since there was a solid cast involved, I thought I might as well check it out anyway. Well, probably because I was expecting something so awful, to be honest, I didn’t think it was so bad after all. Indeed, even if it was nothing really original, it was interesting to see a movie dealing with agoraphobia and Amy Adams gave another solid performance as she was completely convincing playing a middle-age woman cloistered at home and isolated from the rest of the world. Make no mistake, it's not particularly good, and director Joe Wright squanders so many strong elements (chief among them, this outstanding array of actors).
