An excellent movie! Both dramatically moving and intense at moments, this film is a lot deeper than it looks, as it delves into topics such as personal identity and existentialism. The animation is clean, crisp and beautiful, though blatantly adding the 21st century fingerprint of 'blooming everything'. Description: Kannami Yuichi is a "Kildren", a fighter pilot recently sent to Urisu Base to replace a previous one who had died in battle. Like the numerous genetically-engineered pilots before him, he does not age, only to live his life fighting and eventually dying in battle. Rostock and Lautern, 2 different companies have been engaged in a brutal war that has no beginning or end, rather the battles they create serve to "entertain" the peacetime people. My biggest disappointments in entertainment (145 tv items)

"Yet another Mamoru Oshii movie and it has the same ups and downs as the rest of them, interesting premises and cool visuals but completely dry characters. It could be excused in GitS since there they were going through an existential crisis and managed to be memorable, but here the characters are forgettable and the movie never goes beyond its concept. Its a movie about boring lifeless characters talking about how they are condenmed to live in a loop and never manage to break it, great setup, me"
