Description: Producer-directors John and Roy Boulting consolidated their reputation with this gripping apocalyptic thriller, the relevance of which remains undiminished today. Shot in the summer of 1949 (just as the Soviet Union detonated its first nuclear bomb) and released in September 1950, Seven Days to Noon was praised in Time & Tide as "the most intelligent film so far to touch upon one of the problems confronting an atomic age," while Picturegoer drew attention to its other great achievement, that it "brings London to the screen more realistically than has ever been done before." "A scientist steals a nuclear bomb and threatens to blow up the centre of London in 7 days at noon unless the Prime Minister stops making them. This is a great little thriller worthy of Hitchcock with many location shots of London at the turn of the 50's still showing the scars of the Blitz during WWII. The story is setup for a manhunt as Central London is evacuated of all people with the army searching through all property one by one to find the missing scientist. Seeing the capital devoid of pe"
