In these films the action is tense and furious, the death count unusually high and a little imagination is required of the viewer. RoboCop is even more as it has a high level of satire to spice things up. Paul Verhoeven is one the originators of this genre and one its finest directors. He keeps the pace really moving, adds touches of humor in just the right spots, and he gets the best out of his casts and crews. RoboCop is the perfect example. Peter Weller is perfection as Alex Murphy / RoboCop, giving heart and character to a robot/cyborg and proving he's up to the action as well.
