Manchester by the Sea update feed
" 1 February. Manchester by the Sea is a beautiful, seemingly grandeur drama about lifeโs complexities, beautifully photographed, directed with clarity, and wonderfully acted. And its depressing as hell.ย The center of the story is Lee, whose life measures to one epic disaster after another, himself ending up working as a handyman, fixing things where he cannot with his sordid past, takes under his wing and bonds with, his 16-year old nephew. "01/30/17 Directed by: Kenneth Lonergan Awful dialog, awful, over-the-top music, awful Casey Affleck, uninteresting story with some really jank cuts and hilarious sound effects. The pacing is fine though and by the end I didn't feel hatred towards it despite being deserving of it technically. I ended up just laughing at it which is better than being miserable. "
"January 30th Directed by: Kenneth Lonergan I'm disappointed because this isn't typical Hollywood schmaltz, but it still ends up being bad. It's watchable I guess."
"This movie is a masterpiece in every sense of the word. Beautiful, heartbreaking, funny, and tough all at the same time. This movie puts the viewer through the ringer but earns every single moment by the end. The story is about a man who went through a terrible trauma in his past. He has to return to the town where the event took place as his older brother has died, leaving him in"

“Since I kept hearing some really good things about this movie, I was really eager to check it out and, for once, I wasn't disappointed, that's for ย sure. Seriously, I can't imagine a better way to start off this new year with my film club. Indeed, even though it was maybe not completely flawless, it wasn't far from it and I can't remember the last time I saw a movie combining so perfectly drama and comedy. Seriously, this movie was so funny, it was very often much more hilarious than most of your average comedy. And yet, it was dealing with a really tragic story but, somehow, this mix worked miraculously well. I think that, even though the acting was quite impressive, I enjoyed most of all the writing. "1.Damien Chazelle- La La Land Probably the winner. 2.Barry Jenkins- MoonlightPotential spoiler. 3.Kenneth Lonergan- Manchester by the SeaLikely not winning, but it would be shocking if he didn't make the cut. 4.Denis Villeneuve- ArrivalAs Arrival has risen towards the front of the BP race, so to has Villeneuve's shot at a nomination. While it has a great script, the movie is really a directors movie, with every element having to come together precisely for maximum impact, and I think the vo"
