Ju-on was extremely popular and well received for a low-budget V-Cinema film. It was popular enough to spawn a sequel, Ju-on 2, as well as a full blown theatrical remake, Ju-on: The Grudge; which spawned several sequels and an American remake titled The Grudge which was released in 2004.
